How Long Does it Take to Create a New Website in Dubai?
Creating a new website is not just a matter of money; it is also a matter of time. Interestingly, 85% of our customers need an urgent website! It is a huge number.
What do you think about its reason? We believe that people would like to implement what they have in mind quickly, as they cannot lose time for building a website; they need the website from the first day. They may also think that it is possible to lose the market to their competitors if they delay.
Consequently, the timeline of a website building project becomes very crucial for most of the customers. But for how long you should expect a project to be done?
In Dubai, there are different kinds of companies. We have local companies, freelancers & solo traders. That could be an influential factor for your project timeline. The type of website you want is also crucial. Let’s list some elements to be considered for this matter:
- What kind of website developer are you dealing with?
- The web-design company will make the website from scratch or with a template?
- How many unique pages do you have?
- Which CMS do you want to be used?
- Do you have your contents ready?
What kind of website developer are you dealing with?
As we mentioned before, there are three types of web-design builder in Dubai/UAE. If you are dealing with a locally registered company, you can make sure that everything will go as planned. These companies have experience and flexibility to match your needs with the timeline. They will give you an optimized timeline considering your website complexity and features. The timeframe might differ depending on the type of website you request, but they will stick to their promised timeline. You can trust them.
If you deal with freelancers, the scenario would be more complicated. They are usually from a foreign country with no local support in Dubai. You should know them personally to trust them; otherwise, you might lose time and money.
In another case, if you want to deal with a sole trader, you cannot expect a complicated web design. One person would not be able to provide a perfect service in every aspect. So, it is always better to rely on a team instead of a person.
The web-design company will make the website from scratch or with a template?
We talked about the template and theme websites versus custom websites in the “web cost in Dubai” article. It is always recommended to build custom websites because you will face SEO standard problems, loading issues and low score if you go with a template.
However, if you have decided to use a template, its advantage is that it takes almost one-third of the custom-designed website’s time to build a website.
How many “unique” pages do you have?
It doesn’t matter how many pages your website will have for your project timeline, though, it is important how many unique pages you are supposed to build. For example, if you are selling laptops, you will create a page template for all of your products, and then you enter the data for each of your laptops separately.
In this case, you don’t need to build a page for each one of your products. So, if you want to estimate how long your website takes to be completed, you should think about the fact of how many unique pages do you need on your website.
Which CMS do you want to be used?
If you are going to use an open-source CMS for your website, like WordPress, that will save so much time! But if for any reason, you need to have a dedicated CMS, then a lot of time would be spent to build that type of website. To understand which CMS is adequate for your project, you can read “Web design with WordPress or a dedicated CMS” article.
Do you have your contents ready?
Some customers think that website building includes content providing, which is a wrong belief. Once your website is ready, you are responsible for providing and entering your website’s contents. However, you might want to deal with the same company to create content in a separate project. Content entering can only be done after the website is built. But, preparing the content, which is very important and time-taking, can be organized beforehand. So, we suggest you start creating and gathering your contents before or during the website building if you are in a hurry to launch your website. This process will save you time.
Timeframe for each step of designing a website:
So far, we learned what elements affect the overall web design timeline. Now we talk about the timeframe of each step of website creation. For the details of the steps, you can read the “Website design services, from foundation to the completion” article in Websima’s blog. Here we just mention the titles and estimate each one’s duration.
- Understanding the project and its purposes: 2 days to 2 weeks
- Writing a proposal as a project executive plan: 1 day to 4 days
- Visual identity and content priority: 2 days to 2 weeks
- Graphical design: 1 week to 3 weeks
- Coding the website considering the SEO standards: 1 week to 6 weeks
- Test and quality check: 2 days to 2 weeks
- Training & moving to the domain: 1 day to 3 days
Therefore, the minimum time for a web design project would take 22 days, and the maximum would take 20 weeks. However, in some rare cases, the process might take even longer.
Finally, how long does it take?
Till now, we talked about the factors that should be considered in your website building timeline and steps’ timeframe. Here, we will estimate the timeline of the same categories we had for price categories in “Web design cost in Dubai” article. We will consider custom web design only, as we do not recommend using templates for your websites.
- Company Website
A typical company website would take around 35 days up to 65 days depending on its features
- Normal eCommerce Website
A typical eCommerce website with basic features would take around 45 days up to 85 days
- More complicated eCommerce
An eCommerce website with unique features like creating designed receipt, or inventory management may take around 65 days up to 95 days
- A complicated website
If you want to create Amazon number 2, that would be a different story. The timeline of such a website would be more than three months for sure, and depending on its complexity and CMS, it may take even up to a year for massive projects.
In Websima DMCC, we give you a timeline in our proposal, and we guarantee that we will stick to our schedule during the project. There are also some other great companies in Dubai but be careful that the proposal you receive is realistic. Don’t trust the timelines that are too good to be true.
